About Me

My name is Becky Powell. I am currently the reading academic intervention facilitator (coach) at Tenoroc High School in Polk County, Florida. I graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, grades 1-6, and a Master's Degree in Reading Education, grades k-12. I have been an educator for 14 years. I worked in elementary schools as a classroom teacher and with the Florida Literacy and Reading Excellence Center as a reading coordinator. I have also taught an adult English Language Learner class.

My husband and I have been married for 26 years. We have two sons. My oldest son is a sheriff's deputy and my youngest son is a firefighter. My wonderful daughter-in-law is a kindergarten teacher. In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family, travel, read, and scrapbook. On Sunday evenings, I teach a class at Kathleen Baptist Church to children in 1st-3rd grades.
